there are over 7 million mayan decendents in mexico, many of whom still speak with a mayan dialect, as comment # 1 stated.

spooked said...: yeah, thanks for that. I think the idea is not so much that Mayan descendents are all dead but that the Mayan civilization was pretty much wiped out.
