Increased Oil Prices Almost Entirely Due to Unregulated Speculation

and the US government has farmed out the oil price regulatory duties to some firm in London.

This was on the Diana Rehm (NPR) show today, with some economists on talking about the Soros testimony on oil prices in Congress yesterday.

The panel also noted food price increases are due almost entirely to speculation.

This all adds up to an artificial crisis to me.

There's certainly nothing artificial about the prices one pays for food and gasoline. Pretty soon, it will be cheaper to eat money.

Did anyone say what could be done (realistically, practically, and given that politics MUST be taken into account) about this so-called artificial crisis?

the ever increasing prices of food and fuel are certainly not so-called, but the official explanations for these drastic increases are certainly not the entire true story.

Who told you they ARE "so-called"?

Read before you react, Groucho.
