WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 — Senior leaders of Al Qaeda operating from Pakistan have re-established significant control over their once-battered worldwide terror network and over the past year have set up a band of training camps in the tribal regions near the Afghan border, according to American intelligence and counterterrorism officials.

FBI Works to Thwart 'Mother of Satan' Bombs
QUANTICO, Va. (Feb. 19) - Kirk Yeager makes bombs from the stuff found under kitchen sinks. He does it to help the FBI defend against what officials say is the next frontier for terrorists in the United States
Now, Yeager says, the "Mother of Satan" explosives are considered the most likely weapon that terrorists will use against the U.S., more so than a nuclear or radiological "dirty" bomb.
"Every serious terrorist group knows about them and knows how to make them," Yeager said.
"Bad guys are bombers. You don't have to have the level of sophistication to make a bomb that you need to get nuclear materials," Yeager said.
The bombs are made by mixing chemicals that are used in common household items, including hydrogen peroxide and paint thinner, and easily found at drug stores or hardware stores. Experts know them as TATP, short for triacetone triperoxide, and HMTD, or hexamethylene triperoxide diamine.

American officials said there was mounting evidence that Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, had been steadily building an operations hub in the mountainous Pakistani tribal area of North Waziristan.
The United States has also identified several new Qaeda compounds in North Waziristan, including one that officials said might be training operatives for strikes against targets beyond Afghanistan.

if there really are al qaeda compounds and they really have been identified then they would already be destroyed.
Why is it that the kooks from the far left and far right both think the NYT is working for the other side?
causing the total disintegration of 2 towers and destroying a 3rd tower and collecting massive insurance payouts on said while building an elaborate frame-up to blame an entire race of people whose supposed martyr leaders lead from a cave somewhere over there enabling trillions of $$ to be wasted on ever more heinous WMD such as depleted uranium which poisons not only an entire region for generations to come but the duped american children who are the deliverers of this depleted uranium as well.

i think that con smash is merely latching onto the subject of the NYT in hopes that we will dwell on that instead of how and why 9/11 was an obvious inside job.
If ConSmasher doesn't even understand what propaganda is, it is probably hopeless for him to understand that 9/11 was an inside job...
Kitchen bombs, didn't they use that with OKC?
I guess they hired Judy Miller again? The public demands that Sulzberger, his family, and his associates get interrogated for their roles in the 9/11 attacks. Perhaps Larry Silverstein and Arthur Sulzburger want to join their pal Jack Abramoff behind bars? It won't be long now. They're digging themselves in even deeper. People are taking note.
