Expanding Executive Power for the Sake of Expanded Executive Power

WaPo Op-Ed:
But it has finally become clear that the goal of these efforts isn't to win the war against terrorism; indeed, nothing about Padilla, Guantanamo Bay or signing statements moves the country an inch closer to eradicating terrorism. The object is a larger one: expanding executive power, for its own sake.
I'm sure the perfect excuse for an executive power grab was in fact an important reason for staging 9/11 in the first place.

Well, perhaps our next executive strongman and all-supreme leader will decide to hang some of the current gang of perpetrators without a trial after rendering them to a special location secretly for a few years of torture and drug-enhanced interrogation.

The Bush Family could take a few lessons from Marie Antoinette. People are sick of their crap and they're taking out the very protections that might spare them some cruel and unusual punishment.

In a New World Order, the center of gravity will not be in Florida, Texas, or Kennebunkport, and they're going to be sacrificed on the very altar they foolishly erected.

But then again, maybe we'll all bow down to Jenna Bush and have her be our next Queen. Why not? Perhaps we have outgrown our Constitution and Bill of Rights, and we'll just accept their new status-quo. All hail Queen Jenna!
