Saddam Conspiracy Theories

I will note the reports that Saddam Hussein has been hanged to death by saying, they are making a big mistake by not showing the video.

Lots of people are going to wonder if he is really dead.

Personally I don't care one way or the other-- I am not a supporter of the death penalty, but Saddam was clearly an evil dude so I am not going to get too upset about it.

I'm just saying the conspiracy theories will flourish unless extremely good quality video of the execution is shown.

UPDATE: As has been pointed out by others, executing Saddam is a very effective cover-up for the alliance between the US and Saddam in the 80's-- a time when Saddam was clearly established as a brutal, evil dictator-- and the US looked the other way.

It's also a bit strange that Saddam was killed for one relatively small atrocity-- just a fraction of what he is supposed to have done. And this is a shame in the sense that many many of his crimes have therefore been unpunished and probably will be swept under the rug.

I do not believe they executed him and if they did execute someone it was one of the many body doubles that were noted back in 2003. His capture was staged as was the so-called trial. I am also disgusted my media reports of people celebrating his death. As bad as he was, I can't understand celebrating anyone's death, but that's all they do these days...

There's nothing to celebrate. One more dead Iraqi.

I'm not a big fan of show trials and kangaroo courts. On the other hand, this probably makes it easier for the international community to support hanging the war criminals in the Bush Administration.

I'd be happy to see them locked up.

whatever happened to all those legendary doubles of Saddam. You know: the supporting cast of look-alikes who made it fruitless to try assassinate him.

The doubles reportedly had plastic surgery and practiced Saddam's mannerisms, walk, and even facial tics. So, odds were at least 5, maybe 10 to 1 you would just kill some unfortunate actor instead.

Ever wonder why none were reported caught?

How come they got so lucky that the first Saddam they gabbed happened to be the real thing? And was caught with such exquisite Karl Rove-ian timing to boot.
Bush was signing the Patriot II-style "Intelligence Authorization Act" stealthily into law, at the exact moment the Iraq drama unfolded.

Hmm, Fred, today's headline and Photoshop . . .

The thought occurred to me to go stand on a street corner with today's headline -- "HANGED" in huge print with Saddam's picture -- and started pumping my fist, acting macho, and yelling "yeah, we killed his ass, alright!" and so on. Problem is, most people probably wouldn't get it, even in my liberal town.

Well, at least the war was worth it. We killed his ass.
