Abuse report from Guantanamo.

An excerpt:
The plight of the people who have had limbs amputated is among the saddest of the conditions of this ugly camp. I have twice been housed next to prisoners with prosthetic limbs. It was one of the most depressing experiences I have endured. The prisoners were effectively blackmailed by their interrogators who said that they had to cooperate in order to get their prosthetic devices back. They are denied the toilet chairs, the sticks they need to walk and even the cream they
need to ensure that the wound will not become infected and inflamed. The pain is apparently particularly great when they are denied the necessary prosthetic socks, so that the wounds are exposed to the extreme cold of the cells.

Most of the people in Guantanamo were innocent bystanders.

And we fucked them up good.

Doesn't it make you feel proud to be an American?

This is another reason I left the US and I hope never to return. My advice, get out why you can. At least your taxes won't be paying for this terror.

Is that the best you can do fucktard? Allegations by detainees and their attorneys? I guess if this was 1940 you'd have swallowed Ezra Pound's bullshit hook, line and sinker too.

My advice is get out too, you're welcome to stay either way but if you're so repulsed then feel free to head for the door.

If we assume 9/11 was a massive psy-ops campaign, we can shut down the part of our brain responsible for critical thinking and allow reflex to take over. Very good, you've figured out propaganda quite well.

Funny, I read accounts from the prisonors themselves of how they ended up there. Some of the storiys sound like kids stories about being late for class lol.

I'd like to see you housed with them and them knowing you are an infidel the guards go for a long lunch break see if your humanitarian view of them and their supposed honesty and victum status can protect you.

They would saw your head of with a pair of dull panties.

and you would no doubt saw their heads off as well i bet. what the devil are you guys so angry about?

If we assume 9/11 was a conspiracy involving 19 morons with magic box-cutters, we can shut down the part of our brain responsible for critical thinking and allow reflex to take over. Very good, you've figured out propaganda as well.

Terrorists are probably the only people who lie more than so-called "truthseekers".

Given the attitude of chaos and dw, plus what we know happened at Abu Ghraib, is there really any doubt that these alleged terrorists were abused?

It really is sad that people can't even accept that abuse occurred. It is also very sad that these people seem to believe that everyone swept up in an Afghanistan dragnet and shipped to Guantanamo is a terrorist.

In fact, there is no doubt that abuse occurred and that innocent people were imprisoned.

But ultimately, even if these people are ALL terrorists, shouldn't we be better than them, and treat them humanely?

Read the report.

Is that the best you can do Chaos? Put it all down to conspiracy and lies by government critics and terrorist sympathisers?

Well, you can use your own eyes. Most TV reports from Guantanimo show 'dastardly terrorists' strapped to wheeled stretcher devices accompanied by 2 or 3 fully armed marines.

Are we to believe that Gitmo is hosting an army of small-framed, unarmed fanatics who are so dangerous that a small platoon of heavily armed marines would be in fear of their lives if they had to do anything as risky, say, as 'walking' their prisoners from one cell to another?

Or are we just seeing PR bullshit about how dangerous these guys are? And strapping them onto stretchers is just a nice opportunity to continue a range of abuses including 24 loud music, extended physical restraint and - the ultimate in insult - the forced feeding of hunger strike protesters. (btw, forced feeding of protesters in this way is specifically forbidden by ibternational medical and human rights codes of practice.)

This is just the unjustified torture of people, most of whom were Kabul taxi drivers picked up under a bounty system that was a licence to dob in innocent people.

Think about this -

In 2002 the Dutch government released its official report on the 1995 Srebrenica massacre. It detailed the secret alliance between the Pentagon and radical Islamist groups to assist Bosnian muslims. Weapons were smuggled though Croatia in violation of the UN arms embargo along with radical Islamist fighters.

This from The Guardian(22 April 2002): "... Initially aircraft from Iran Air were used, but as the volume increased they were joined by a mysterious fleet of black C-130 Hercules aircraft. The report stresses that the US was 'very closely involved' in the airlift.... the Pentagon's own secret service was the hidden force behind these operations."

You don't see too many US C130 pilots locked up in Gitmo, do you? Wake up!

You want some more, Chaos? Then what about this:

US investigative journalist Robert Dreyfuss has written a book entitled: "Devil's Game: How the US helped unleash fundamentalist Islam".

Quote:

"During the U.S.-Taliban era of cooperation from 1994 to 1998 … a key Unocal consultant was a University of Nebraska academic named Thomas Gouttierre, director of the Center for Afghanistan Studies there. During and after the Afghan jihad, Gouttierre’s center secured more than $60 million in federal grants for “educational” programs in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Although the funding for Gouttierre’s work was funneled through the State Department’s Agency for International Development, the CIA was its sponsor. And it turned out that Gouttierre’s education program consisted of blatant Islamist propaganda, including the creation of children’s textbooks in which young Afghanis were taught to count by enumerating dead Russian soldiers and adding up Kalashnikov rifles, all of it imbued with Islamic fundamentalist rhetoric. The Taliban liked Gouttierre’s work so much that they continued to use the textbooks he created, and when a delegation of Taliban officials visited the United States in 1997 they made a special stop in Omaha to pay homage to Gouttierre. In 1999, another Taliban delegation, which included military commanders with ties to bin Laden and Al Qaeda, was escorted by Gouttierre on a tour of Mount Rushmore".

He's certainly a likeable chap, this Thomas Gouttierre. Any room for him at Guantanimo, you think?

Stop being a chump. The US leadership has had a heavy involvement with both the Taliban and islamic groups over many years and now - for pure political reasons - seeks to demonise them. Your real enemies are in Washington.
